In 1882, Alphonse and Dorimène Desjardins built a house where they would raise their ten children and where they started operating the Caisse populaire de Lévis (Lévis Credit Union) in 1900.

Today, this site is a cultural property classified as a historical monument as well as a recognized museum. A reenactment lets you discover its fascinating history and, in the adjoining house, a permanent exhibit helps you relive the origins of the largest cooperative financial group in Canada.
