A beautiful bay separates the small Canadian town of Baytona from a neighboring town called Birchy Bay. The small rural community in the northern part of Newfoundland and Labrador used to have fish in abundance. In fact, the first settlers of Baytona fished for a living, but with a depletion in cod stocks and lobsters, there was a shift away from the fishing industry. Currently the majority of the 400 people living in Baytona make a living from the forestry industry. Baytona has a fire department, town council and a recreation committee. There is a convenience store, a playground, and a basketball court.
