Hartney Travel Guide

Hartney, established as a town in 1882 along the Souris River, is a small town in the South-Western portion of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located in the province's Westman Region, and is known as the "Little town with a lot of heart". Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Rural Municipality of Cameron, this community of about 460 people is located on Provincial Trunk Highway 21 in the southwestern corner of Manitoba. Hartney is 80 kilometres from Westman's regional centre, Brandon, and 275 kilometres from Winnipeg, the provincial capital.

The Hollywood film The Lookout featuring Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and the film The Stone Angel featuring Ellen Burstyn, were filmed in Hartney in 2006; taking advantage of such buildings as the town's grain elevator and museum.
