Port Hope is a municipality in Ontario, Canada, about 109 km east of Toronto and about 159 km west of Kingston. It is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Settled in 1793, Port Hope is well-known for fine early residences and the architecture of its commercial Heritage Conservation District.

Port Hope's downtown is celebrated as having the best preserved 19th century streetscape in Ontario. With over 270 heritage designated buildings throughout the municipality, Port Hope has a higher per capita rate of preservation than any other town or city in Canada. Downtown businesses are regulated by the municipality to maintain the town's unique character.

There's always something to do in the picturesque, historic town of Port Hope, Ontario in Canada. Port Hope's many annual events, live theatre, antique and specialty art shops, cheerful cafes, pubs and restaurants draw thousands of tourists each year.

Port Hope is said to be the antique capital of rural Ontario with almost twenty stores. Some of the finest antiques in central Ontario can be found among the many antique shops within a couple of streets from the Lantern Inn in Port Hope's heritage district.

The Ganaraska River, renowned for the best trout and salmon fishing in Ontario, flows through downtown Port Hope. The Lantern Inn and Suites is situated on the Ganaraska riverbank and both buildings overlook the river.
