Folk Under the Clock

Folk Under The Clock, Peterborough's folk concert series, came to be on September 23, 1986 with its very first concert featuring Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie Maclean now an international folk legend who has since played the series numerous times.

Over the years, the concert series has featured some incredible acts from Canada and around the world.

Featured artists have included Tom Paxton, Loreena McKennitt, Eric Bogle, Andy Irvine, Dar Williams, Fairport Convention, Waterson-Carthy, Rawlins Cross, Rare Air, Colleen Peterson, James Keelaghan, Lennie Gallant, The Rankin Family, Archie Fisher, Ron Hynes, The Tannahill Weavers, Martin Simpson, Spirit of the West, Dervish, DanĂº, Four Men and a Dog, Andy M. Stewart and Manus Lunny, Vin Garbutt, Oscar Lopez, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Ian Tamblyn and many more.

Folk Under The Clock is a labour of love for artistic director Mike Barker, who started and still runs the concert series, along with his wife Sonja and a dedicated group of friends. Mike has been involved in the folk music scene for over 30 years in Peterborough and Edmonton. He has also been a judge for the 2004 Juno Awards (Roots and Trad. solo), served on many local music committees, and contributes to the yearly "critics choice" selection published by Penguin Eggs, Canada's Folk Roots and World Music Magazine. Mike has also been a judge for the 2005, 2006 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
