Half an hours drive (45km) east of Saskatchewan River Crossing you will find Aurum Lodge, situated on Abraham Lake, off the David Thompson Highway (Hwy 11). Aurum Lodge and cottage are an ideal base for visitors wishing to explore the many natural attractions of the Rocky Mountain Parks, Front Ranges and Foothills between Nordegg, Lake Louise and the Columbia Icefields.
Our facility is readily accessible year round from the Icefields Parkway (Hwy 93) and Hwy 11.
If you plan to remain in the area for a few days and like the idea of staying away from the hustle and bustle of the National Parks and Icefields Parkway traffic, do read on...
At an elevation of 1,350m (4,500ft), Aurum Lodge overlooks Abraham Lake and is surrounded by forests and mountains.
Area attractions are mostly natural (rivers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons, wildlife, etc.) and activities for our guests include hiking, photography, mountaineering, day-trips into the parks, wildlife observation year round. In summer you can go trail riding, canoeing, cycling, fishing, climbing, visit the historic coal mine in Nordegg or go on a guided glacier walk on the Athabasca Glacier. In winter, snowshoeing and ice-climbing are popular in the area, as well as winter hiking.
Aurum Lodge is an award winning eco-tourism country inn operating on renewable power and heat.
The facility features two accommodation options for area visitors:
The Lodge has six guest rooms, which come with breakfast included and halfboard (bfst and evening meal) is available as an option (there are few restaurants in the vicinity and none in winter).
Our self-contained cottage units (designed for double occupancy) and a two-bedroom apartment are designed for guests who wish to look after their own meal arrangements and do not require access to the lodge. Pets are welcome in the self-contained units.
All lodge rooms are laid out for double occupancy with comfortable European style king beds or two single beds and ensuite bathrooms. A barrier-free room is located on the ground floor. All rooms are bright, airy, and offer great views.
Our facility is non-smoking throughout and a friendly dog resides in the lodge.
Minimum stays apply in summer and on public holidays.
For more information, detailed room descriptions and rates, check out our website.
Our housekeeping cottage (for sinlges or couples) and the two bedroom apartment (for families of up to 5) are fully winterised and have a small kitchen, bathroom with shower, patio or deck and access to a wood BBQ pit and picnic area in the yard.
