Opened in 1976, The Native Cultural Arts Museum showcases cultural and creative achievements of the Native Peoples of Canada and other other cultural areas of North America. Various aspects of indigenous culture, past and present are represented. Originating as a teaching aid for the Native Cultural Arts Program at Northern Lakes College, the museum has grown into one of the most unique museums in Western Canada. Exhibiting native cultural art, the museum is dedicated to promoting a better understanding of indigenous culture.The Native CulturalArts Museum,example of indigenous design and techniques located in Grouard, is also the home to historical artifacts relating to the history of Grouard and its reputation as a major centre of trade at and around the turn of the century including a collection of historic photographs and newspapers available for viewing on microfilm.
