Big Jonathan House

The Selkirk First Nation cultural centre at Pelly Crossing is housed in a replica of Fort Selkirk’s Big Jonathan House.

(Museum)
This attraction has a range of works by local artists, as well as locally-made beaded clothing, birch bark baskets, baby birch bedding and tools. A model of a fish trap and a fish rack illustrate the catching, drying and smoking of the summer fish catch for winter use. Enjoy listening to audio recordings of storytelling elders or try some Northern Tutchone language lessons on tape. Watch the Fort Selkirk: Voices of the People video to learn more about this interesting region and its people.
