Allen Sapp Gallery

Public gallery

(Galleries/ Exhibits/Shows, Public Art Gallery)
The Allen Sapp Gallery opened in May, 1989 and it houses a collection of Sapp paintings called "The Gonor Collection", named after Dr. Allan Gonor, Allen Sapp's friend and patron who died in 1985. It was Dr. Gonor's vision that a public gallery be established to house this collection. After his death, Mrs. Gonor donated the collection making his wish possible and the gallery a reality. Since that original gift, other patrons, including Allen Sapp himself, have stepped forward to donate work. Presently, the collection of Sapp's work has more than doubled and the permanent collection now includes the work of many other First Nation and Inuit artists.
