Unikkaarvik Visitors Centre

The place to view culturally-oriented, traditional displays aimed at locals and tourists alike.

(Museum)
If you are interested in the Inuit culture and Nunavut’s wildlife, come on by and view our exhibits including our polar bear at floe-edge exhibit, seafloor bottom exhibit, and much more about the Arctic and its people. You can also watch movies from our wide selection of Arctic-themed videos, or read a book about the North with a grand view of Frobisher Bay. If you are interested in arts and programming, we have that as well! In the summer the Centre runs unique programs geared towards visitors and locals, including the weekly Inuit Art Experience. Here you can learn how contemporary Inuit art is made and buy directly from the artist – art that you watched being created. If you are an adventurer who likes to be outdoors all the time- well then come to the centre and rent one of our stylish, unisex mountain bicycles and tour the town on your own -at your own pace. Try riding the first (and only!) tandem bicycle in the Capital, you will surely be sighted and greeted with a smile when people see you on this two-person bike. The bike rentals are a part of a city initiative called "Pisootiit! Bicycle Rental Program". Throughout the year we also invite guest speakers to do presentations on important arctic issues or topics.
