Known as the \"Hub of the North\", Hay River is a town in the Northwest Territories in Canada. It is located on the south shore of Great Slave Lake, at the mouth of the Hay River. Situated in the South Slave Region, Hay River is one of the two regional centres, along with Fort Smith.

Hay River is an attractive destination for visitor - summer and winter. Enjoy a snowmobile ride, a dog sled run, a sliding party, or just a walk or cross-country ski through this vast winter wonderland.

The area has been in use by first Nations, known as the Long Spear People as far back as 7000 BC.
